In
1995, Sheila and fellow artist Jean Pellerin published a small
book titled Whistler's London: A Bridge Through Time. Sheila had dragged Jean on a tour of Whistler-related sites
in London, places he'd lived, frequented and even his gravesite.
Jean, who worked in a print shop at the time (yes, she was
a stripper), suggested they do a black and white sketchbook
on what they'd seen. Sheila then took it a step further and
wrote poetry about all the Whistler places. Both artists did
pen & ink illustrations to accompany the poems, and Sheila
did some scratchboards (almost the opposite of pen & ink
-- white on black). The cover, seen here, was a joint effort.
Jean did the layout and lettered the titles and Sheila did
the pencil drawings, including Whistler's portrait. She knows
him better than Jean does. After all, she's his "mother."
